2 critically injured in wrong-way crash on I-55

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Two people were injured in a head-on crash early Sunday on the Stevenson Expressway.

A driver travelling east on I-55's outbound lanes collided head-on with another car travelling west near Ashland Avenue on the City's Southwest Side.

Illinois State Police say the two victims were critically injured.

The expressway re-opened later Sunday morning.

The crash remains under investigation.
