Funeral held for Leonardo Matia, innocent bystander shot near Truman college

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Family and friends said goodbye Monday evening to Leonardo Matias, who was killed last week near Truman College.

He was shot last Tuesday standing next to his truck in the city's Uptown neighborhood.

Monday night, the family issued a statement saying: "The testimony of Leo's life and faith will show this city that the solution to the problems Chicago's young people face is not violence, but rather is the love and peace that only comes through a relationship with Jesus Christ."

Police believe the intended target ducked into a nearby business to take cover.

Authorities are still looking for the gunman.
