CHICAGO (WLS) -- The NASCAR Chicago Street Race for 2024 is being held in and around Grant Park on July 6 and 7. Along with two banner races, the event features a family-friendly festival with with live music, including performances by The Black Keys, The Chainsmokers and Keith Urban.
Extensive street closures and re-routes are now in place as the city constructs the winding race course, and fans are flocking to the city over the long Fourth of July holiday weekend.

There's more than racing happening at the 2024 NASCAR Chicago Street Race.
The Chicago Loop Alliance is helping expand this year's NASCAR Village. The free public experience is happening in Butler Field all weekend. It features more than 20 vendors from all over the city.
It's NASCAR"s effort to be better acquainted with Chicago," said Michael Edwards of the Chicago Loop Alliance.
Sam Hunt of Sam Hunt Racing is one of the top young team owners in NASCAR.
Hunt says he sees a tremendous benefit from competing on the streets of Chicago.
"It's one of my favorite races on the schedule," said Hunt. "We don't get to race in cities really ever so for me it's just a really fun event."
Hunt's advice to the drivers: "Keep it on the asphalt is what I always joke, they need to keep it all in one piece."
One of the founders of Chicago House Music, Vince Lawrence helped NASCAR coordinate a special House Music 40th Anniversary Showcase Performance for the 2024 NASCAR Chicago Street Race.
It will feature some of the genre most iconic artists, including Bad Boy Bill, Byron Stingily (Ten City), Chip E., Curtis McClain, Dajae, Marshall Jefferson, and The Outhere Brothers.
NASCAR driver Connor Mosack says he's ready to drive his #88 Chevrolet Camaro through the Loop Saturday as the Xfinity Series race returns to the streets of Chicago.
