36 shot, no homicides in Memorial Day weekend gun violence across Chicago, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- At least 36 people have been shot in gun violence across Chicago so far this Memorial Day weekend, police said.

3 shot blocks away from teen takeover at 57th Street Beach: CPD
Three men were wounded in a shooting at a large gathering Monday night blocks away from a teen takeover at 57th Street Beach, Chicago police said.

The shooting took place at about 10 p.m. in the 1600-block of East 55th Street.
Police said an 18-year-old and two 19-year-olds were standing at the gathering when they heard shots and felt pain.
The 18-year -old was wounded in the hand, one 19-year-old was wounded in the leg and the other was wounded in the hip, police said. All three were hospitalized in good condition.

Man shot in Little Italy; CPD says 1 in custody
A man was shot on Monday night in the 1500 block of S. Racine Avenue, Chicago police said.
The shooting happened at about 8:15 p.m.
A 46-year-old man was shot in the right bicep. He was taken to Stroger Hospital and was expected to be OK.
CPD said they took one person into custody. Charged were pending.

Man shot in South Side robbery, Chicago police say
A man was shot while being robbed in the 200 block of E. 37th Street on Monday at about 6:23 p.m., police said.
CPD said a 47-year-old man was near the sidewalk when he was approached by two vehicles.
The suspects hot out of the car, battered the victim, and started shooting him, police said.
The victim self-transported to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the foot.
CPD said the suspects fled. Nobody is in custody.

2 shot on North Side, Chicago police say
Two men were shot on Monday at about 5:54 p.m. in the 4100-block of N. Wolcott Avenue, Chicago police said.
Both victims, aged 28 and 29, were in the North Center neighborhood when they were approached.
CPD said there was an exchange in gunfire, and both victims were struck.
They self-transported to Stroger Hospital.
The 28-year-old was shot in the back and the 29-year-old was shot in the foot.
Both victims were expected to be OK.
