CHICAGO (WLS) -- Wrigley Field is 100 years old, and so is she. Loretta is a big Cubs fan, and she's spent the last several decades keeping score with her favorite team.
Such history this place has seen over a century of baseball, and such history this lady has seen over that same century.
Loretta Dolan is 100 on Tuesday- uniforms never lie. Seldom does Loretta miss a Cubs broadcast, and she always keeps a scorecard. She's got games from decades ago with line-ups like Kessinger, Beckert, Williams Santo and Banks.
ABC7's Paul Meincke asks: "Do you ever look at the older ones and remember games?"
"No. (Oh you're always looking ahead?) I'm just dusting them all the time," said Loretta.
We first visited with Loretta six years ago when she was invited to throw out the first pitch at Wrigley. On Monday night, she'll be back on the field, designated to hand some game balls to the ump.
"They said I was supposed to hand it, but I think I could throw it, too. (Why don't you ask him?) I don't know. If I throw it underhand, what's the difference?" said Loretta.
Loretta still has a wicked underhand splitter she's willing to try. Her family and friends - 100 strong - will be with her Tuesday night. She had a big party Sunday and former Cubs catcher Randy Hundley joined in. Loretta's cake, a high sugar content Wrigley Field, has been mostly devoured. But there's one request from Loretta for tonight.
"I'd like to get up for the seventh inning and have my daughters and me sing the song," said Loretta.
There is, after all, no stopping someone who is 100.
Loretta's going to get a lot of attention this evening, so it'll be tough for her to keep score without distraction. But that's OK because she always clips the box score from the newspaper after games and keeps them with her records. Score keeping helps her stay sharp, she says.
But it does make her family a little crazy when she's up until the wee hours of the morning when the Cubs are on the West Coast.
