Pedestrian fatally struck by Metra train near Tinley Park

Metra Rock Island District trains were halted in both directions Tuesday afternoon after a pedestrian was fatally struck near Tinley Park, authorities said.

Trains are operating with delays, according to the Metra website. Train No. 413 hit the pedestrian.

Tinley Park police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that the pedestrian was killed.
