Rental car shortage reported at Midway Airport

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Hundreds of people are waiting for rental vehicles at Midway Airport after a rental car shortage.

Hertz Rent-a-Car said the shortage of cars is due to weather issues and large demand following a fire at an FAA facility in Elgin, which stopped flights for several hours earlier this week.

Some people affected by the FAA fire flight cancellations rented cars, and those cars are being returned slower than expected, officials said.
