Donna Bozzo gives ideas for ringing in 2018 with the whole family

Age shouldn't leave anyone out of New Year's Eve celebrations - there's plenty of ways to ring in 2018 with the whole family.

Lifestyle and family fun expert Donna Bozzo talked to ABC7 about festive activities for kids of all ages.

Celebrate Noon Year's Eve

For little ones who can't quite make it until midnight - or with parents who might want the day off - look for NOON Year's Eve countdowns where kids get all the NYE hoopla a few hours early.

The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum

Ring in 2018 the Nature Museum way at the Peggy Notebaert Noon Year's Eve party! Celebrate top party animals of the year with the whole family. Don't forget your dancing shoes - museum workers will have rockin' tunes and family-friendly games. Everyone will count down to the Noon Year with an apple juice toast. Recommended for kids age 1-8. Light lunch is included in the ticket price.

The Exploratorium

Head to Skokie, where the folks at the Oakton Community Center will transform the Exploratorium into a miniature Times Square complete with a DJ and a countdown to a noon balloon drop. Itty Bitty New Year kicks off at 10 a.m. and ends at noon. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited.

Kohl Children's Museum

Get in the party spirit at Kohl Children's Museum when an entire wing of the museum transforms into a giant Times Square-style party. Enjoy a children's concert, DJ and dance party, hat making and horns, family photos, and a confetti drop!

Chicago's New Year's Day 5K Run & Walk

How about a healthy and fun start to 2018? Kick Off 2018 with Chicago's New Year's Day 5K Run & Walk. It's a great way to get a head start on those New Year's resolutions! The New Year's Day 5k Run/Walk kicks off from Stockton Drive and LaSalle in Lincoln Park at 11 a.m.

Make a family time capsule

Chronicle the highlights of your year with a family time capsule. Gather all the things that remind you of the past year and a big tub - a jumbo plastic pretzel container from Costco works well. You can put in math tests, Halloween pictures, Valentine's Day cards, report cards, newspaper clippings -anything you want to archive and then hide it somewhere to be discovered in ten, twenty years. Make note of where it's hidden if you want to be the family to discover it, or happily forget so it can be discovered by another family down the line.

2018 piñata

Who doesn't love a piñata? Pick up a 2018 piñata and fill it with predictions for 2018 written on slips of paper along with the typical goodies.

Pop into the New Year!

Tape a sheet of bubble wrap to the floor. You can find rolls at the office supply stores or save it from your holiday packages. At the stroke of midnight or "kidnight" (you determine the time), stomp in the New Year - pop, pop, pop!
