WEST ISLIP, N.Y. -- Police are looking for suspects who invaded a home where two families live in West Babylon Thursday night.

Suffolk County police responded to a 911 call at 9:24 p.m. to Newkirk Avenue, where three to four men with handguns entered a home.

Two couples live in the house along with five children, ages 2 to 9, and an elderly woman.

The suspects forced three women, a man, the children and a caretaker, who does not live at the home, into a bedroom. The husband of one of the females was at work.

The caretaker was assaulted and sustained injuries to his head and body. He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. None of the family members were injured.

The suspects fled with cash and jewelry.

Police believe the victims were targeted.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asked that anyone with information about this incident contact the First Squad at (631) 854-8152.
