PLAINFIELD, Ill. (WLS) -- Loved ones gathered Saturday to remember a popular high school teacher who was killed earlier this week.

Family, friends and students gathered in Naperville Saturday morning for the wake for Sue Cunningham. The Plainfield North High School teacher was just diagnosed with cancer a few months ago.

Plainfield police say she was stabbed to death Tuesday night. Officials say the suspect, who is her husband, was then fatally hit in traffic along I-55.

A memorial for Cunningham is being held Saturday night at Community Christian Church in Naperville.
