CPD holds recruiting event ahead of application deadline

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The deadline to apply for a chance to become a Chicago police officer is just a week away.

On Saturday, a recruitment event was held in the Little Village neighborhood.

Applying is the first step in the process toward becoming an officer.

Interim Chicago Police Supt. John Escalante said it's important the department is diverse and reflects the city.
