CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. (WLS) -- A former Lake in the Hills deputy police chief is accused of sexually assaulting a girl in a home in northwest suburban Crystal Lake.

Crystal Lake police said the girl's parents reported the assault on Nov. 29.

After a thorough investigation, police issued an arrest warrant on Dec. 14 for Alan Bokowski, 60, of the 1300-block of Dola Rosa Vista in Crystal Lake. He was arrested at 10:30 a.m. the next day without incident.

Bokowski was charged with three counts of criminal sexual assault and five counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, all felonies.

He is being held at McHenry County Jail until his bond hearing.

Bokowski is a 26-year veteran of the Lake in the Hills Police Department. He retired in 2006. As a precaution, Lake in the Hills police started an internal investigation.

Crystal Lake police said their investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
