Man found dead on ice at Deep Lake in Lake Villa

LAKE VILLA, Ill. (WLS) -- A man was found dead Monday morning on the ice at Deep Lake in north suburban Lake Villa.

Police and fire responded just after 10:50 a.m. to a report of a person on the ice about 800 feet off shore near the Shoshoni Trail.

That person's identity has not yet been released and cause of death is unknown.

The Lake County Coroner's Office responded to the scene. An investigation is underway.
