DOLTON, Ill. (WLS) -- One 15-year-old boy was killed and four others injured after police said a stolen car crashed into a Pace bus in Dolton Friday night.

Police said a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo that was reported stolen in Indiana fled a traffic stop on 6th Avenue in Phoenix, Ill. Police pursued the Chevrolet, but it is not known if the pursuit continued up to the crash or was terminated before it.

The Chevrolet was traveling east on Sibley Boulevard when it lost control and crossed into the westbound lane where it collided head-on with a Pace bus at Wentworth Avenue at about 10:27 p.m., police said.

Police said the Chevrolet was driven by a 15-year-old boy who was transported to Ingalls Hospital, where he was treated and released. He was then taken into police custody.

A 15-year-old boy who was a passenger in the Chevrolet was transported to Ingalls Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities have identified him as Jamal Williams.

Another 15-year-old passenger was transported to Christ Hospital in serious condition and an 18-year-old passenger was transported to Ingalls Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The 59-year-old driver of the Pace bus was transported to Ingalls Hospital in serious condition, police said. A Pace spokesperson said the driver has been released from the hospital and that no passengers were on the bus at the time.

"It does not appear that the operator was at any fault in this tragic accident. Pace will support law enforcement's ongoing investigation in any way we can," the Pace spokesperson said.
