25-year-old Bartlett man killed in vehicle crash

UNINCORPORATED PRAIRIE GROVE (WLS) -- A 25-year-old suburban Bartlett man died Monday evening in a two-vehicle crash on Route 31 in unincorporated Prairie Grove, according to the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

A 51-year-old McHenry woman was also injured in the crash. She was taken to the hospitalize in serious condition.

Shortly after 6 p.m. Monday, the Bartlett man was driving a 2002 Cadillac Deville southbound in the 2200 block of south Illinois Route 31. Police said the man's Cadillac overtook another vehicle traveling southbound and lost control, entering the northbound lane where it collided with a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer driven by the woman.

Officials have not released the identity of the man killed.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and their airbags did deploy, police said.

The crash is under investigation.
