CHICAGO (WLS) -- A serious crash involving a Chicago police vehicle left three people injured - two of them Chicago police officers.
The officers were responding to a call when a sedan slammed into the side of the police car at Irving Park and Melvina before midnight Saturday, officials said. The squad car then struck a light pole.
There is extensive damage to both cars involved. Witnesses say the sedan came out of nowhere.
"They were kinda stuck in the car after impact," said Melvin Wallace, a witness. "Once the fire department got here, they pulled them out."
The two male officers were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. The male driver of the sedan was taken to the hospital in good condition, and police say he will be cited.
