CHICAGO -- A 4-year-old boy was shot and a 6-year-old boy cut his finger after someone fired a gun in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the Southwest Side Wednesday.

The 4-year-old boy was walking with his mother in the 1500 block of South Trumbull Avenue at 6:50 p.m. when they saw a group of men arguing on the block and then heard shots, police said.

When the two made it home, the boy told his mother that he had been shot in the right foot. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, police said.

A 6-year-old boy also suffered a cut to his finger as a result of the shooting but was not actually struck by gunfire, police said. He was treated at the scene.
