Law enforcement officials take icy plunge for charity

Law enforcement officials jumped into Lake Michigan at the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run Super Plunge to benefit Special Olympics.

EVANSTON, Ill. (WLS) -- Dozens of brave people went into the icy waters of Lake Michigan for a good cause on Friday.

Law enforcement officials jumped into the lake at Northwestern University's North Beach at the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run Super Plunge to benefit Special Olympics.

Each participant is asked to raise at least $2,500 for Special Olympics Illinois, with an overall goal of $200,000.
