Severe weather is possible Sunday across the Chicago area.

The first batch of storms could arrive by mid-morning but the greatest risk of severe weather will come mid to late afternoon as new cells rapidly develop.

The storms will be moving southeast and should reach Northwest Indiana by late in the day. Localized rainfall of 3 to 5 inches is possible especially south and east of Chicago.

Tornadoes cannot be ruled out, but the system is more likely to bring damaging winds and large hail.
