Avalon Park shooting: 1 serioulsy injured near 85, Euclid Avenue

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Nigel Lewis, 15, was shot and seriously wounded in the South Side Avalon Park neighborhood Friday morning.

Lewis was shot in the 8500 block of South Euclid Avenue about 11:25 a.m., police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan said.

Neighbors said the Kenwood Academy student was walking with some other teens from one friend's house to another when shots rang out.

He was taken in serious condition to University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital, Sullivan said.
