CHICAGO (WLS) -- A candidate for Illinois House says he was attacked by a man and a woman outside his campaign office. But they tell a different story.
Democrat Robert Zwolinski has a broken nose and other injuries. He's running for the 4th District seat held by Cynthia Soto.
Zwolinski says on Sunday night he confronted a man and woman putting up posters for his opposition near his office. Zwolinski says he was assaulted with fists, a bottle and a staple gun.
Zwolinski's girlfriend said she was around the corner and was threatened by the woman.
"My passenger door gets yanked open, and this woman is standing there screaming at me to get out with a staple gun to my head," said girlfriend Megan Dunworth.
An attorney representing the man and woman involved in the incident says they are volunteers for Incumbent Soto. His clients' allege Zwolinski instigated the brawl.
