CHESTER, Ill. (WLS) -- A man who spent more than 20 years behind bars for a Chicago murder is free thanks to former Gov. Pat Quinn.
Tyrone Hood was released from Menard Correctional Center Wednesday evening.
He had been serving a 50-year sentence for the death of an Illinois Institute of Technology basketball player in 1993.
Quinn commuted the sentence during his final day in office.
Hood must still serve a three-year mandatory parole period.
