CHICAGO (WLS) -- More than 1,100 officers are getting new, bulletproof vests thanks to the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation.
Officers went to the police station in the 3100-block of South Halsted this week to be measured.
The Memorial Foundation is raising money with a program called "Get Behind the Vest," and hopes to raise $4 million and buy at least 8,000 vests.
Each office gets one when they join the force, but officers must buy all replacements.
