Search continues for man who opened fire on Waukegan police, officials say

WAUKEGAN, Ill. (WLS) -- A manhunt is underway in Waukegan after a man allegedly opened fire on police, officials said.

Officers responded to reports of a robbery Saturday night, and when they arrived, they saw a man fitting the suspect's description, police said. That man then allegedly started shooting at them before running into a wooded area near Abbott Middle School.

Police have not released any other details.
