Erik Depillars, 17, charged with DUI in fiery LSD crash

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The teenager who was rescued from his car following a fiery crash on Lake Shore Drive is now charged with driving while intoxicated.

Erik DePillars, 17, faces several charges, including DUI, speeding and failure to reduce speed.

The teen was trapped in his SUV after crashing into a tree Saturday morning. He was pulled to safety by strangers.

An Eyewitness News crew came upon the crash moments after it happened and helped put out the initial fire.
