PALM BEACH, FL -- A woman is facing assault charges after police say she stabbed her boyfriend because he threatened her pet turtle.
According to the Palm Beach Post, Marie Seymour, 53, was drinking with her boyfriend when he threatened to harm her pet turtle and moved towards her. Deputies say Seymour then took out her knife and stabbed him.
Palm Beach County sheriff deputies were called to the scene and the boyfriend begged them not to take his girlfriend to jail. Instead, they took him to the hospital to be treated for his injuries and arrested Seymour on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
The turtle's name was not released.
