CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man was injured in a police-involved shooting after police say he pointed a gun at them in the city's Lower West Side, officials said.
A call went out to police near the area of the 2200-block of South Western Avenue around 3:45 a.m. Sunday after a reported robbery, police said. A man matching the robbery offender's description was approached by officers in the 2300-block of West 21st Street; police say officers fired shots at the man after he refused to stop and allegedly pointed a handgun at them.
The man was struck and taken into custody after a brief foot chase, police said. No other injuries were reported.
The Independent Police Review Authority is investigating.
