Police investigate fatal shooting in Richton Park

RICHTON PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- Richton Park police are on the scene of a fatal shooting outside an Auto Zone in the 3600-block of Sauk Trail. Police say an adult male was shot and killed outside the store around 7 p.m. Another man sustained a gunshot wound and was taken to an unnamed hospital for treatment.

The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force is assisting the Richton Park Police Department in their investigation.

A source says the shooting may have been in retaliation for another incident that took place earlier, but police have not confirmed that. Richton Park is not known for gang activity or general violent behavior.
