Ceremonial first pitches have a history of going shockingly well or surprisingly bad.

MMA starConor McGregor's first pitch during Tuesday's Chicago Cubs game against the Minnesota Twinsat Wrigley Field was no exception to that rule.

The Notorious MMA's time on the mound could have gone better -- to put it mildly.

McGregor stepped on the pitching rubber and appeared to be ready to deliver a solid pitch, but the ball sailed wide right and missed its intended target. By a lot.

His pitch drew comparisons to other less-than-stellar tosses.

John Wall, 2011

Carly Rae Jepsen, 2013

50 Cent, 2014

If there is any consolation for the former UFC featherweight champion, McGregor can be at peace knowing other big-name celebrities have struggled on an MLB mound too.
