Friday Flyover: Niles North
CHICAGO (WLS) -- This week, we feature Niles North High School on ABC7's Friday Flyover, celebrating high school sports!
High School Football gets into high gear every Friday with a full slate of games supplied by the High School Cube. ABC7 Sports will air highlights of some of these games on TV during ABC 7 Eyewitness News at 10 PM.
About Niles North
Niles North is a public, four-year comprehensive high school with an enrollment of 2,233 students, with 560 students in the Class of 2014. There is great cultural diversity at Niles North High School. 38.6% of the student body qualifies for the Free or Reduced Lunch program. In the district's Fall Housing Report, over 60% of the student body reports that they speak another language. Over 90 different languages are spoken with Urdu, Spanish, and Assyrian being the most common. Fifty-seven percent of the population is non-white.

The Niles North Viking Football Program will kick off its season Friday, August 29, 2014 against Shepard High School. Join us at Niles North High School for our first home game of the year!
Accomplishments:
- Schools raised over $160,000 for charitable organizations
- Chemistry teacher receives Golden Apple Award
- Athletic Department wins Strength of America Award
- Debate student named Top Speaker at the Illinois Debate Coaches Association State Tournament
- Two students received national recognition with Silver Keys during the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards contest. They were honored at Carnegie Hall.

Niles North High School/Hosting 4th Annual Skokie Skirmish at Niles West High School. The festivities will begin at 11:00 a.m on Saturday, September 6, 2014.
Niles North High School will be celebrating 50 years in Excellence this year and all district alumni (from any year) are invited to attend the reunion festivities which are held during Homecoming weekend, September 19-21. Saturday, September 20th a 50th Anniversary Alumni Party at the Double-Tree Hotel will be held from 7 p.m.- midnight. Current and former teachers will be in attendance. It is going to be wonderful to get our community together for an evening of reminiscing, laughs, and new memories.
