OGLESBY, Ill. (WLS) -- Starved Rock State Park trails are closed Tuesday in order for park officials to assess damage sustained in a severe storm Monday night.

Power is out and phone lines are down at the state park, according to Starved Rock's website. The Visitor's Center is closed. The Route 71 entrance is open, but the Route 178 entrance is closed.
The Lodge is open, and the planned Country Showdown at the Lodge tonight will go forward as planned. The Grill opens at 5 p.m. and the Showdown starts at 7 p.m.
A park entrance and several roads in the park are blocked by fallen trees. Many trails have been washed out. The boat ramp is filled and the water is very high.
Starved Rock has been voted the No. 1 attraction in the state of Illinois, offering 13 miles of trails, fishing and boating. The park is also known for its captivating views, canyons, waterfalls and giant trees.
