High bacteria levels force swimming ban at McHenry Co. beaches

WOODSTOCK, Ill. (WLS) -- Health officials have enacted swimming bans at some area beaches in the far northwest suburbs.

The McHenry County Health Department wants people to stay out of the water at Lake Park Beach in Crystal Lake, Veterans Park Island in Island Lake and at Indian Trails Woods in Lake in the Hills.

Health officials say water samples tested Friday contained high bacteria levels at those three beaches.

They will re-test the waters Saturday.
