Newsviews: How to talk to your children about violence

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The story of Tyshawn Lee's murder has received national attention, so your children have likely heard about this crime against a 9-year-old.

So what does it do to a child to hear that someone their age has been murdered? The parents of one classmate say their son had been walking to and from school by himself, but that changed after Lee's death.

Joining us this week on Newsviews to discuss how and when to talk to your children about violence is Dr. Bradley Stolbach, a licensed clinical psychologist with the University of Chicago Medicine.
