CHICAGO (WLS) -- City crews have begun renovation work on a nearly one-mile stretch of State Street.

The section from Wacker to van Buren is being re-surfaced for the first time since the 1990s.

Asphalt grinders are busy tearing away the old, worn portion of State Street.

City crews say two-way traffic will still be two-way traffic most of the time.
