Here are the top 10 cities to celebrate July 4 this year

If you're planning on a holiday getaway this weekend, you're not alone. A record 43 million Americans will be traveling, according to AAA estimates.

Where's the hottest place to celebrate this year? Finance site WalletHub put together a list of the best cities based off of how good of a time you can expect to have and how hard it will be on your wallet.

Seattle came in at number one, followed by Minneapolis and New Orleans. See the top ten in the gallery above and the full list here.

To determine the rankings, they looked at the 100 largest cities in the U.S. and took into account three factors: entertainment/food, attractions and weather. They used several measurements to evaluate these factors such as number of festivals and performances, legality of fireworks and traffic congestion.

If you're not planning on hitting the road, though, you're in luck. WalletHub's finance experts said the best way to save money this weekend is to keep it local.
