Sunday marks 26-year anniversary of deadly Plainfield tornado

PLAINFIELD, Ill. (WLS) -- Sunday marked 26 years since a powerful tornado hit southwest suburban Plainfield.

The F-5 twister killed 29 people and injured more than 350.

The tornado hit around 3 p.m., causing more than $165 million in damage.

It was one of the strongest and most devastating tornados ever to hit Illinois.
