Chicago Weather: Warmer temps Sunday after snowy, windy Saturday
CHICAGO (WLS) -- Spring shied away from the Chicago area on Saturday as cold temperatures, high winds and snow flurries made April seem more like winter.
Due to wind gusts that reached more than 50 mph throughout the area, a wind advisory was in effect for much of the day. Wind gusts hit 59 mph at Midway Airport and 55 mph in Gary, Ind.
On Sunday, things change with temperatures expected to reach into the 60s.
High winds blew the roof off a three-story brick building in the 7200-block of South Evans Avenue in the Park Manor neighborhood on the South Side, Chicago fire officials said. No injuries were reported.
While the wind was sustained, sunshine and heavy snow flurries alternated regularly throughout the day.
"It's like four seasons all in one day," said Catrece Smith, of Oak Park. "A big blur. That's what we've been calling it ... We have sunny. Then it warms up a couple of degrees. Then it gets cold again. I don't know. We're experiencing all four seasons in one today."

lurries began early Saturday morning and moved east through the area. The heaviest band of snow arrived around 8 a.m. before moving over the lake.
