Services at Holy Name moved temporarily

Problems began February 12 when parts of the ornate ceiling came down. As engineers checked the damage, they discovered that the roof trusses needed to be repaired.

The cathedral was shut down. Masses have been moved temporarily to the church's parish center auditorium.

"The Mass is the Mass. But, of course, the cathedral is a marvelous setting for it. So, that's all right. Faith sees things that are the really important things, sees beyond the visible things. So that's what counts," Francis Cardinal George said.

The building's trusses are original, dating back to 1874.
