Former attorney pleads guilty to felony theft

WOODSTOCK Stephen E. Ford, formerly of Algonquin, practiced in McHenry County. But after a state disciplinary board accused him of stealing, he relinquished his attorney's license in 2005.

On Monday, he pleaded guilty to felony theft charges stemming from incidents in 2004 and 2005. Under a plea deal, prosecutors dropped three other theft charges.

After his courtroom plea, Ford said he feels remorse every day.

Ford was also ordered to pay $135,000 in reimbursement to five victims of theft.

He faces a jail sentence of four years. The sentencing is in July.
