Chicago firefighters rescued two women trapped in a burning home on the city's South Side Tuesday morning.

Two other people escaped safely on their own.

The fire broke out in the one-story bungalow in the 9000-block of South Woodlawn just before dawn.

Firefighters discovered two women in a back bedroom. They passed one woman through a window into the arms of a fire chief. The second woman was in a hospital bed. They had to wait until the fire was extinguished before they could get her out of the house.

Investigators are trying to determine what caused the fire.
