Study links trans-fat to cancer

The finding results from the latest study to support recommendations to limit trans-fat consumption. Researchers interviewed 622 patients who underwent colonoscopies in 2001 and 2002 and whose diets and physical activity levels were studied.

The 25 percent of subjects with the highest daily trans-fat intakes were 86 percent more likely to have colon polyps than the quarter consuming the least daily trans-fat.

The study is published in the American Jounal of Epidemiology.
