One car of Amtrak train derails

CHICAGO The wheels on the first car behind the locomotive on Train 304 derailed about 7:50 p.m. south of Joliet. Amtrak spokeswoman Karina Romero said all cars remained upright and the train's power stayed on.

According to Romero, there were 112 passengers on the train, which was due in Chicago at 8:40 p.m. The passengers were bused to their destinations.

Two other trains, one traveling from St. Louis to Chicago carrying 48 passengers, the other from Chicago to St. Louis, carrying 57 passengers. Romero said those passengers also were bused to their destinations.
