There's a call for holiday shoppers to boycott Michigan Avenue and State Street stores during the holiday season. It's Illinois State Senator James Meeks' latest idea to draw attention to his effort to change the way the state funds public education. Reverend Meeks says picket lines will be set up outside stores downtown.
"Why are we going forth with such as extreme measure is because we feel that we've been ignored by everybody" State Sen. Rev. James Meeks, (D) Chicago
The boycott is scheduled to begin the day after Thanksgiving and to continue until the day after Christmas.
