Fan Ban in effect at some games

January 27, 2009 (CHICAGO) The 'fan ban' went into effect last week following several incidents, including a drive-by shooting that wounded several people at a Dunbar High School basketball game earlier this month. Also, last week a basketball player from North Lawndale Prep was shot in the leg following a game.

Calvin Davis is sports administration director of Chicago Public Schools. The 'fan ban' has new restrictions:

  • all boys varsity basketball at 4 p.m.
  • no fans from opposing teams without permission
  • no fans from an opposing team if there has been a history of violence
