The first allows low income families pay 90 percent of their bill and the rest will be forgiven. The other allows eligible customers to pay 25 percent of the amount owed and avoid disconnection by agreeing to a payment plan. The remaining balance can be paid over time without any interest charges or fees.
ComEd has two assistance fairs to help customers sign up for the assistance plan. One on Friday, March 20 at Malcom X College, 1900 W. Van Buren Street from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. The other on Saturday, March 21 at Olive Harvey College, 10001 S. Woodlawn from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
