March 28, 2009 (CHICAGO)

According to a spokesperson for the Chicago Fire Department the first part of the accident happened at about 1:45 a.m. as a vehicle carrying four people home from a party was driving northbound on the Dan Ryan near 75th Street.

A witness who claimed to have been cut off by the car says it was going at least 90 miles per hour.

"When he cut off, the car flipped and jumped on the side wall. A couple of people flew out of the car," said one witness at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, identified only as a male in his 30's was killed. Orlando Rodriguez says he tried to help those trapped in the vehicle."I pulled somebody out. He was intoxicated. He got nervous. I tried to get the other guy, but I couldn't move him till the ambulance came," Rodriguez said.

Three people were taken to the hospital. But this wasn't the end of it. A second accident happened just after emergency responders arrived on the scene.

"The fire truck was parked at the scene. Had all of it's lights activated. The motorist, who's been arrested for drunk driving exited at 71st Street and struck the front of the fire truck," said Sgt. Rich Decker of the Illinois State Police.

A firefighter was injured in the accident. He was taken to the hospital, but his injuries are described as fairly minor.
