Security stepped up aboard Metra trains

July 1, 2009 (CHICAGO) Federal marshals and security dogs will soon begin patrolling Metra trains. Security teams will wear identifiable uniforms while on patrol.

Metra says the beefed-up security is not a response to any specific incident but an effort to better detect and deter potential security threats.

Federal authorities stepped up train security nationwide following deadly train bombings in Madrid in 2004.
