Six people were shot outside a funeral service Saturday afternoon on the city's West Side. The victims were among a group of mourners who were outside the Gospel Truth Life-Changing Ministries Church at approximately 12 p.m. while a funeral service was being held inside.

Five of the gunshot victims were hospitalized in critical condition. A seventh person had to be hospitalized after suffering chest pains at the scene.

"I was sitting by the door, and I just heard a lot of gunshots, and I just took off with the running and pushing, just trying to get out of the way," said Marcia Bowman, who attended the funeral.

"I just don't understand how this all happened," said witness James Simmons. "I just pray for the people who got shot."

No arrests had been made in the incident Saturday evening.

A fire department spokesperson said the individuals who were shot were all "young adults," but their ages and identities have not been released.
