Data shows Jan. 1 big day for stealing cars

As holidays go, new year's day is tops in terms of most stolen cars, according to the latest analysis of crime data by the National Insurance Crime Bureau. Oddly enough, new year's eve is the holiday in which your car is least likely to be stolen.

The good news is vehicle thefts have been on a steady decline for several years now, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau.
