City officials to residents: Prepare for bitter cold

January 27, 2010 (CHICAGO) Temperatures aren't expected to get above freezing anytime soon. We'll be seeing some very cold wind chills in the week ahead.

The city is reminding people to take precautions to protect themselves and others.

"We encourage all Chicagoans to check on relatives, friends, anyone they may have concerns about and if they think there's a problem, they can call 311, especially with senior. We will do a well being check," said Cmsr. Mary Ellen Caron, Dept. Of Family and Support Services.

City officials remind residents there are warming centers around the city including the around clock facility at 10 South Kedzie.
